While John Roc is native to the Canadian Maritimes, one listen to his mandolin playing would convince you he is straight from the heart of bluegrass country! With over 30 years of experience, John has become known as one of the premier pickers in the Northeast. John grew up playing French Canadian fiddle tunes with Simon St. Pierre and playing in his family band. Since those days, long past, he has performed from Nova Scotia to Florida with bands like the legendary Mac McHale and the Old Time Radio Gang and the ever popular Southern Rail. John is proud to tell you he owns a Paganoni (#23) that was the main mandolin used by Jimmy Gaudreau. He puts it to good use and is sure to impress and delight with grease lightning, clean picking. John Roc also gets after it on the baritone and most assuredly has the three “T’s”; tone, timing and taste!
